How to make Sauerkraut – With Jane Powell from Teacher in the Paddock.

Teacher in the Paddock (Toi Toi Charity Ltd) is operated by Kevin Powell a primary teacher, and Jane, gardening guru who shares her wealth of knowledge about food.

On a small lifestyle block in Papamoa, Bay of Plenty, Kevin and Jane lead a sustainable lifestyle. They grow as much of their own food as possible, including milking their own cow.

Kevin and Jane share their passion for their lifestyle by hosting school groups, kindergarten children and early childhood centers. The children are able to experience the wonder of milking their house cows, feeding chickens and learning about composting, worm farming and growing food. Their aim is to foster the connection they feel to nature through understanding where our food comes from and what it does to us.

Jane holds relaxing, informal workshops on preparing probiotic foods and drinks and cultured foods. This includes learning how to make sourdough bread, keffir water, kombucha and sauerkraut. Kevin hosts the cheese making workshops for various cheeses.

Join us for 80+ workshops, inspiring speakers, live music and gastronomical delights all set on the edge of Mount Community Gardens and a beach access away from both the Mount Main beach and Mount Main Street. Warmest of welcomes to you, your family & friends.
